It may look like a German Shepard dog, but the wolf is taller and has a recognizable black tipped tail. The grey wolf is not endangered but has a stabile population. Wolves eat hare, deer, stags, boar, and farm animals. Their territory can range from 100-300 km2, though they usually circular around in a 11-23 km2 area. Male wolves often leave the pack when they are one year old, to find their own pack and claim their own territory. They rely on each other, share the food, and help raise the new offspring. Wolves’ lives in packs and hunts as a group. So, what do we do? Embrace them or remove them? Since a lot of animals are in decline, we humans try our best to rewild our nature and that includes predators that belonged to the country a long time ago, even though they are not the friendliest of neighbours. The other side, of course, is what many European countries do, is to rewild their land. This is called “killing spree” and is most unfortunate for the farmer. This sometimes occurs when predators are close to easy prey and will go and kill multiple preys. The argument against, is that a lot of farmers has experienced to find their sheep dead, left uneaten by wolfs. ![]() This has caused much drama between if we should eradicate them once again or let them stay. The grey wolf (Canis lupus) is one of Europe’s largest predators and with an absence of over 200 years, has returned to the Danish woods.
